«I feel uncomfortable when they call me experimental musician, I’m afraid to be likened to people who bang kitchen utensils or sing in cookie jars, an approach that is seldom gratifying for anyone else but the performer». With these words Simon Steensland illustrates his poetics, that now happens to be declined in the (virtual) grooves of Fat again, Simon’s new record, umpteenth high-level work by a coherent artist, original and inspired, supported by Morgan Ågren’s granitic and sparkling drums. His music draws from 20th century classical and non-classical tradition, plunges into rock vitality and progresses toward new forms of expression.
After some years of silence Simon Steensland is back. A new great line-up with: Morgan Ågren and Robert Elovsson (Mats/Morgan), Einar Baldursson (Gösta Berlings Saga) and many others. For the first time some vocals parts are included with a chorus that reminds some typical rituals of Magma.
